Maciej is a visionary whose head functions so differently than my own that I often wish to use surgical tools to dissect, and probe, and analyze because there's so much inside I wish to gain from this man. Intellectual, artist, adventurist, hairy chair, and Pole exemplar. There is a whole slice of my life of which only he could understand. We spent the first semester talking past each other, or so the Indian said, because you were gushing with FRAMEWORKS (insert booming bass voice here) and I was muddled by details ("what is a framework?"). More or less I think our gears have found synchrony, but our lives are always off-kilter. Can we please stay on the same continent for more than 4 months at a stretch? Maciej is so dynamic and riddled with the trappings of humans - their triumphs, their irritations, their accomplishments, and their fears. He is unpredictable, and so is Kiki. The very fact of his presence in Singapore this semester has made me feel infinitely less alone.
A rendezvous between hegemonic stability and soft power is unquestionably explosive.. Maciej's head functions in a manner so similar to mine that I often wish to use surgical tools to dissect and probe and analyse it :).. He combines immense intellectual games with intense kindness of heart, a brilliant mind with an incredible sense of humour, an inner creative giant with immaculate professional poise.. He is simply one of the most important people I know. We spend most of our time marvelling at the American's diligence, and the rest, co-conspiring to anchor inflation expectations, making plans to conquer the world, and eating Channa Masala at Al-Ameen. Time may play tricks on us, but life cannot.. You are one of Singapore's greatest gifts to me.
Maciej, The invitation for a meal is always open for Judith and your when we pass in the same city once again. You must update me on your theories of the economics of love and your attempts at poetry. Hugs
His ability to think from a different angle, and question what many take for granted is What distinguished him from others. I wish I would have known him better but the little I know him is enough to say that he is a very pleasant person.
