Bravo! I finally can pronounce your surname in a correct way, while need deep breath. Life was hard in Paris during the first few days, but finally things got better and better. No matter whether you will be staying in Paris upon graduation, you are always my great friend.

"Har pal yahan jeebhar jiyo
Jo hai sama kal ho naa ho"
Sumathi introduced me to the poetic side of Indian songs. Ok fine. Bollywood songs. :)

But beyond that, she introduced me to the many sides of her wonderful personality. One with such warmth and thoughfulness. One with such courage in her convictions. One who enjoys adventures. And one that is full of heart for a friendship that remains true even when the ocean came between us. Miss you lots dear!

She is such a mixture of attractive opposites that I found myself helpless in my first attempt to write something about her. Let me tell you why I think she is a combination of opposites. She is so concerned about people, she cared about, that you wonder is this the same girl who often says "i don't care". She feels and deeply shares the rare talent of enjoying classical must but when she shares her thought on changing the world you will find her a libertarian, in the classic sense of the the word, if not radical. When she is unhappy it seems havens will fall but when she is happy she will smile or laugh so loud that you feel embarrass in a cinema hall, just kidding. Her ability to use words is impressive, so do her absorbing discussions and grip on literature. She is a person with a dream to change the world, I wish her good luck in all her endeavors.

before coming to this school, i have always been preoccupied that india is great in terms of its technology (read: smartness), of its richness in philosophy (read: knowledgeableness), and of its openness, frankness and sociability (read: true friendliness). i couldn't deny that preoccupation when i meet this Sumathi - a name ('su' & 'mathi') her father has foreseen her very correctly to be 'nice' and 'intelligent':) stay in touch forever.

Sumathi liked to sit at the back bench in the class but that never made her less visible. Most of us will not forget how clearly and concisely she is always able to put her message across from the back of the class. You’re almost always sure to hear from her in the class.

Sumathi has been a crucial force in some of the things I achieved here. Im not sure if I can thank her enough for that. And I, like many others who must have came across her will notice her as being a smart and intelligent person, and she finds it easy to connect to others.

Sometimes I try to impress her with the little knowledge of Hindi I know, I am not sure how successful it has been, but she is easy to work with, as I have studied couple of electives with her, and its great knowing such a wonderful person. Hope you will stay in touch in the years to come. Azwar
